Fediverse – Getting started

Step 1. Pick a server
It is probably the hardest part, so I will help you with that step.
Here are a few I like:
If you want more like Facebook/ Twitter aus.social, mastodon.au or if you want to original mastodon.social is a good option
If you are more Instagram/Youtube/TikTok – try pixelfed.au, pixelfed.social or Loops.video

The hardest part is picking a server – so I advise to just throw a dart – it is not super important as I explained, the system works like email – once you know someones email address, you can follow them on any server. Just go with how you feel.

Your username / address will have the server name in it – like my username is @craiglambie42 as my server is fosstodon.org – all about FOSS – Free Open Source Software – which felt right to me when I first registered.

Step 2
Start following accounts – here are 5 I like
1. @anewsocial
2. @caseynewton
3. @Gina
4. @leavex
5. @FediFollows
